What Happened?

♻️ GOBARdhan Scheme Launched

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas launched the GOBARdhan Central Sector Scheme for the Compressed Biogas (CBG) sector on 1 October 2026. It carries an outlay of ₹23,731 crore for FY 2026–27 to FY 2035–36.

The scheme aims to raise domestic CBG production nearly ten-fold to around 5 MMSCMD and combines assured offtake, administered pricing, capital assistance, pipeline support and credit guarantees.

🗺️ 28 Geographical Features in Ladakh Named

The Centre has standardised names for 28 geographical features in Ladakh, including strategically important locations such as Gogra and Hot Spring.

The move strengthens consistency in mapping and official geographical identification and is relevant to India’s physical geography and border-region studies.

🚦 Delhi Gets AI-Based Traffic Management System

The Union Cabinet approved an ₹1,789.52-crore Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) for Delhi, covering 42 major traffic corridors in three phases over 24 months.

The system will use adaptive signals, automated enforcement, real-time monitoring and commuter information, with technology supporting safer and more efficient urban mobility.

🏅 Asian Games 2026: India’s Gold Rush

India won six gold medals on 2 October at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games across boxing, wrestling, archery and hockey. Wrestler Sujeet Kalkal won the men’s freestyle 65 kg gold after a 10–9 comeback against Tajikistan’s Abdulmazhid Kudiev.

On 3 October, India’s final-day schedule includes the men’s cricket gold-medal match against Pakistan and the men’s hockey final against Malaysia, along with other medal events.
