Pangaea Puzzle Quest

An explorer's field journal on Oceans & Continents

Two hundred million years ago, every continent on Earth was squeezed into a single giant landmass. Today it's split into the seven continents and five oceans you know. Your mission has three parts: place the continents and oceans correctly on the map, piece the ancient supercontinent back together, and prove your knowledge in a rapid-fire quiz.

Round 2 · Piece Together Pangaea

Rearrange the same seven continents into the ancient supercontinent.

FIELD NOTE — ALFRED WEGENER, 1912 A scientist named Alfred Wegener noticed that Africa's coastline and South America's coastline looked like they could fit together, like torn pieces of paper. He proposed that all the continents were once joined in one supercontinent, Pangaea, surrounded by a single ocean called Panthalassa. Over millions of years, Pangaea drifted apart into today's continents.
